This chapter is gonna show a little bit of Rei's past
Chapter 3: Ghosts from yesterday
Rei got home after walking his girlfriend home and toossed the booster box into his closet which was full of boxes dating back to the Legend of Blue Eyes booster. He shut the door and sighed
"God, this is so boring. The tournaments continue to grow easier."He took his shirt off. A voice came from beside Rei
"What's bothering you, Master?"
Rei turned and there was a slightly transparent person who resembled the Mystic Swordsman's fourth level, yet he was taller and his long blonde hair was now white.
"Yeah man, these tournaments are growing lamer and lamer everytime I win one. I thought the ban list would make things better but they just stayed the same, ya know? Instead of people thinking of new innovative cards to use in their decks they all just use the same thing. Enemy Control this, Monster Reincarnate that. Frankly, I'm thinking about quitting the whole game in general."Rei said as he continued to disrobe.
"Quit!?" The man excliamed "You cant quit, what ever will become of me? I rely on your dueling to exsist"
Rei untied his hair and stepped into the shower.
"We'll descuss this after my shower" He said as he turned on the water and Began bathing
"Yes, master" The Man turned into a ball of light and went into Rei's deck.
*** Begin Flashback***
"Don't worry, Rei everything's gonna be alright, bud." Said a boy that stood a few inches taller then Rei. His hair was brown and he wore a red trenchcoat. He charged at a large demon resembling the devil. The boy punched a hole throught the demon, Impaling it with his arm and there was a large explosion. Rei's eyes widened as he defended himself. The smoke cleared and Rei dropped his guard and tears filled his eyes. He dropped to his knees and pounded the ground.
"Blade!"
*** End Flashback ***
Rei let out a loud yell filled with anger and pain at the same time. He punched a hole in the wall stepped out of the shower and dried off. He walked back into his room and stared at a large-bladed sword that had dragon claws sticking out of either side of the guard and a large orb embedded into it with an insignia that resembled a tattoo that Rei had on his left bicep. Suddenly, his phone rang and he picked it up.
"This is Rei Long" Rei said, speaking into the handset. A girl with an english accent responded on the other line.
"Rei, we need you. There's been a mishap involving April"
"So, get your husband to do it. I'm not one of you guys anymore" Rei retorted angrily
"Angel is dead, so you're our last hope and if you wont come by yourself, then I am coming to get you" With those words Rei put the phone down and stepped back a couple of feet. Shortly after stepping back, his phone exploded and a short girl that strongly resembled the Dark Magician Girl appeared.
"Maiya, this is the 12th phone of mine you smashed this month"
"Rei, why didn't you tell me you were naked!?" Rei had suddenly remembered that he hadn't put his clothes back on and crossed his arms.
"It's not like you haven't seen me naked before"
Maiya snapped her fingers and Rei suddenly was wearing a fresh new outfit of the same sort he had on at the tournament.
Rei scowled and clenched his fist "I'm not going anywhere!" he yelled
"You should stop sitting there being sad about Blade's death, I know he was your best friend but you have to move on. You need to stop feeling sorry for yourself, it wasn't you fault he died. He will live on in all of our hearts but right now we need you." Maiya preached
"I'm sorry Maiya, but I'm living the slow life now, I've got...." He was cut off by Maiya
"You mean you wanna spend the rest of your life moping around playing that stupid card game over saving the world!?"
"I'm done 'saving the world' and I'm done with you guys" and with one wave of his hand, Maiya disappeared
The Mystic Swordsman appeared next to Rei “Wasn’t that Maiya, the girl that you met when you were 14?” He asked
“Yeah” Rei replied
“And did you not have a crush on her when you first met her?” The swordsman continued to inquire
“Yeah, but that was about 6 years ago, I’ve put her behind me.”
“Hm....Indeed” The swordsman replied “Any who, as you were taking a shower I was thinking about your decision to quit playing and came up with a solution to your problem.
“Hit Me” Rei said
“Okay” The swordsman began “Your problem seems to be that you are bored with the so called ‘weak’ duelists at your tournament but you seem to have forgotten something.”
“And what might that be?”
“We live in Domino” the swordsman continued
“And?” Rei said growing impatient
“...and there are many powerful duelists around....I can sense them. Yugi Motou, Joey Wheeler, Mai Valentine, Seto Kaiba, and also, the newly discovered dueling prodigy: Jason Garnet. The list goes on and on.”
Rei smacked his forehead “How could I be so stupid”
“I don’t know” The swordsman replied jokingly
“Well then, that settles it. Starting tomorrow morning we’ll search the town for those guys and duel them for fun. Who knows, maybe I’ll actually BEAT the legendary Yugi Motou” Both Rei and the Swordsman began to laugh histericly but Rei stopped. “Im serious” and the swordsman stopped laughing
“Oh, shall we perfect your deck then?”
“Let’s hop to it” Rei replied and with that they began to fiddle with Rei’s deck, not knowing what tomorrow would bring and the danger ahead of them.
Here's a little explanation of Rei's past. There was a roleplaying forum that I used to go to and it was about rei and a bunch of other characters. They all lived in Domino but while yugi and others dueled, they were keeping the city safe from monsters baddies, etc... Till one day, Rei and his Best friend,Blade were in a bloody battle, this rp was called uh.....um.....well the name slips my mind cause it was so long ago. But anyways, on that missoin, Rei's friend died and rei quit hunting demons with the others. I'll explain his magic in the next chapter. Reguarding the next xhapter, Im gonna tie it in with reaper of despair's "Yugioh: Heritage of Nightmares" fanfic because of jason's horrible death. and this'll become and alternate reality for that story pretty much, you'll see
