This will probably get locked because I know this has nothing to do with fan art or anything, but what hapened to our good old moderator Monger? He hasn't been on in over a month, and he already has a popular sig making thread. I'm starting to get worried...

Sorry guys - I got a differant job and my internet time is restricted!
So..I'm no longer the pimp daddy MOD I used to be..HA HA HA :D
So your not a mod anymore? Can you still make banners? If not, I think Clown Master is gonna take your place as top banner maker for the masses.

Hey, how about me? Oh yeah, I don't take requests. I need to start a request thread over here when I get some more free time.
By the way, did you make that signature? You're definately getting better.

I get too much credit. I think all of the people who take requests do, no offence to Monger/Mikail/anybody else. Frieza makes better sigs than me. He is just better at brushing. I'm getting better, but so is he.
Looks like most of the Fan-Art people that left are slowly coming back, maybe not permanently, but at least they are checking in. Great to see you back Monger.

Bah, now you're giving me too much credit. I actually improve very slowly, so you'll be making better signatures in no time. =P

Monger's not back. He had just enough net time to post one msg. Cya Monger *looks into the distance*.
I would really start ranking the request makers, and having a request thread can make or break you. It can help by letting you explore new ways. I think you should just get on one job. And spend a week or 2 on that siggy. That way they're not too much time contrained and the quality of the siggys will be better. But that's just my opinion. Remember, QUALITY OVER QUANITITY. Besides it's hard to rank you guys, you each got your own styles and feel to it. So, no ranking. Maybe in the future.

I check in often xD. Once my schedule clears up I might start taking some requests again just like in the old days, except now I'm better than I was lol.

That’s obviously your personal opinion...
Being a degreed Graphic Designer, I think all the crystal backgrounds with lame image's and plain text are rather boring and very un-original.
But hey - if you guys think that stuff is super cool and the best going, thats on you!
I would personally suggest trying new things. Photoshop is capable of doing more then crystal style backgrounds!

What do you mean crystal style? I didn't even use Photoshop to make the figure in my current. I used cinema4d, a 3d modeling program.
I find your flat, monochrome, and poorly composed 'sigs' to be rather newbie and dull.
I suggest that you branch away from photoshop and move on to different things.

*Cough. Cough. HACK. HACK. ARGH.* I think I just coughed something up. Was it your pride?
Isn't bringing back year-and a half-old threads against the rules of Pojo in some way, Monger?
Saying that you will ban anyone who does not like your stuff seems like a rather unprofessional use of your mod powers, hmmm? I don't even understand why you are still a moderator.
You haven't used Photoshop in over a year, yet you expect everyone to love your work. It WON'T happen. Way to be conceited, Monger.
Also, lieing about having a degree is not the way to go. Show me some professional work and I'll believe you. I don't think you are telling the truth about your age, either.

Dude, you have no idea what you're getting into here.

No it is not. Hence one of the reasons why Monger is a Moderator -- HE KNOWS THE RULES.

Monger can't ban people. Also, that is taken somewhat out of context. He was not temp banned for disliking someone's work.

See, if you actually posted on the forums and was around when Monger was a Mod, you would realize that you are looking like a complete moron right now.

Yes, yes I do. I've been posting at Pojo ever since the original UBB forum went up over 5 years ago.

What are you saying? It was not taken out of context. Though he doesn't say it directly, he responds to any negative criticism to his work (in his request thread) with either some type of a subtle insult or a warning of a temporary ban. Since he came back like a day or two ago, he has said the words "temporary ban" in probably about 20 different posts, and it is getting annoying. (As is Monger's tendency to end 66% of his posts with exclamation marks.)

I WAS around when he was a Mod. My old screename was banned. And... I don't see how this has any relevance. I don't remember seeing anything professional from him back then, either. Most of all, I don't see how this is making me look like a "complete moron." If he can show me something he made that is professional, I'll apologize to him. I have no problem with that.
And you were told that any posts in this forum would be met with a ban.
Congrats!
Unless if it was in a private message, I don't remember you ever telling Yata that.

I think what Monger had initially meant about temporarily banning people for comments is he is fed up with (rightfully) the people that respond to someone's hard work by typing in one ignorant sentence that is more of a bash/humiliation type post than it is constructive criticism.
Someone's response to moose's new banner:
This is new?
...
for who?
Can you tell me how this in any way, shape, or form, is helping him get better in what he's doing? If you'd like, I could post many more examples of pointless posts like the above, but it would only waste my time since everyone knows it exists.
To be honest, it's not just one person. It's like a certain clique of people here who continuously disrespect others and their work. When it is good, they avoid saying that, and when it's bad, they make fun of it without saying as to why it's bad.
The only thing you're doing is making people mad without helping them. This section of the boards is in dire need of moderation. People get away with too much spam and flaming, in my opinion.

What's the difference between that and you guys resonding negatively to everyone's work? He rightfully responds that way. I'd do that if you bashed me nonstop too.

Yata has been warned numerous times about negative critisism. Monger didn't, and couldn't have banned Yata. He has the same mod powers as I do.
Monger: PM me when you want this locked(since it's warranting it now. But I'll listen to your judgement since you might want to respond).

No one was bashing him. In his request thread, all I said was that he should look at some tutorials and maybe practice a little with Photoshop to get the hang of it again. He replied with this:
Well, not everyone likes the completely unoriginal crystal backgrounds that everyone and their grandma is makign nowdays.
Wow, a crystal background with an image and some plain text, how sweet it is!!!
Seems to me thats all everyone around here is capable of doing.
I have nothing against his work, and we're not talking about critique here. I have problems with his high and mighty attitude. He expects everyone to love his work for only god knows what reason. It's probably because he was considered good when he left. Then again, those days, all anyone did was create those YGO card signatures with Paint. His post here and at his request thread about "crystal" backgrounds really annoyed me.

First of all, let's out Fatfree shall we...he was
http://www.pojo.biz/board/member.php?u=5352
Who got himself banned for flaming. And guess what...he's gonna earn some time off with the above response.
Maybe you haven't figured it out by now, but Monger is a FRIEND OF MINE. If you don't believe me that he HAS HIS DEGREE and works in design for a living, then you don't need to have an account on Pojo. You're what 16? Guess what, between the two of us (i.e. Monger and I), we're THREE times older than you are...and have three times the life experience and wisdom than you'll ever have.
You were banned permanently once for flaming, I guess you don't get it. So here's the deal, you're now banned for a week. And when you come back, if you flame up again, I won't HESITATE to pull the ban stick on you again permanently.

Just caught this little ordeal...
I just have one thing to say to everyone out there who expects "professional" work from me.
My job requires strict guidelines and all my projects are practially pre-designed prior to me recieving the order.
My photoshop skills are not impressive by any means, but in my line of work, fancy backgrounds, lots of images and fancy hard to read fonts dont cut it. The customers want plain designs with one or no pictures and clear, plain fonts / text.
You may be impressing a bunch of kids with your talents, but once you reach the real world of design, you'll see that its just not requested. The clearer the image and the clearer the test - the better.
When I entered school and signed up for Graphic Design, I saw it as being my chance to enter a world of unlimited freedom and a chance to show off my creative genius... Unfortunatly, this is NOT what the job turned out to be.
I have about as much creative say-so in my career as a electrical engineer. Little to none...
Now, eventually - I will be given more freedom, but as of right now I am new to the graphic design field (going on 4 yrs), so the more experienced designers get the cool jobs of selling and creating with customers.
Trust me, I would LOVE to post some of my work on this site, but becuase of contracts - I am unable to do so...
And, as I said - my company has moved away from Photoshop, this explains my lack of use for the past year. We have purchased other programs that are geared towards 3D animation and design. Not just in the form of graphics, but in mechanical design as well.
WildWill
03-21-2006, 09:03 PM
Mechanical design - have you seen some of the cool 3-d images that people over on WK offical have done with Pirates ships?
Anyway...yeah, I think Monger's creds speak for themselves...let's move on shall we?
