I'm not looking for a deck list, but I am looking for a good pokemon (basic or no more than first stage) to back up my good buddy Salamence. (Gust of wind ability in this format is just too hard for me to pass up.) Any suggestions? (Modified only)

Well . . . I too have been REALLY trying to find a partner or partners for this guy. So far I feel that Wailord is a good counterpart. Espeon is good. And I've even flirted with Latias ex. *shrugs* so far it just seems like one of those really good cards that makes for a good deck, but yet still falls a little short against the major archetypes.

I'm still convinced that with its Fire Resistance and the ability to gust anything, Salamence can be a force to be reckoned with. Not too mention if played right it can knock out a Rayquaza with one punch. Hopefully you can hit your opponent before they hit you.

Well I have found that salamence can beat everything consistently exept a well played BDR or a Big steel pokemon. For proof see my cc report in the modified decks forum.

By BDR do you mean Blazekin/Raquaza?

If so then that's more than half the field where I play :(

I think I may have found Sal a friend with Wyanaut and a couple of Wobbas.

Got to test it out a few more times.

"By BDR do you mean Blazekin/Raquaza?"

Close, BDR stands for Blaziken/Delcatty/Rayquaza

Some people call Blaziken/Rayquaza Blaquaza. There's another variant of this, the BAR, with Exp Ampharos or Ampharos ex replacing Delcatty.

As a side note, the codes aren't working for me. I couldn't do quoting and bolding.

Oh and dont forget the other version which runs them ALL!

BDAR. I hate this deck. Everyone's playing it now . . . . Zzzzzzz . . . . BORING!

Oh, yeah. I think I've actually seen a decklist for it before somewhere.

He calls it BARD.

I went to 2 C.C. and came in 4th each time I only lost 2 matches in each one by close calls and crystal shards. I run Salamence (holo) with just Blaziken and Delcatty and thats it, thats all you need really. I might tech in something to stop tools such as Aerodactly ex. It I could get rid of shards then I'd be set. I also use rare candy to give me a boost and Mr. Briney(which won me 2 matches against BARD decks). But all you need is a friend to draw and a friend to power up and maybe that friend to disable crystal shards.

That sounds like a lot of friends, Scizorswrath :)

Also, I really don't want to run Blaziken. He's great, but everyone is running Blaziken!

I'm thinking of running this deck as well. Can anyone confirm for me if Holo Salamence is in the Dragon starter deck?
