Try using ground and rock types and maybe like one phsycic.

i did that...the only problem was, surges raichu does surf, as well as being way fatser than most pkmn........i tried a psychic team, but it still waant enough to push me over the edge of victory......i usually take..: Zapdos(itt can usually handle all the defending pkmn up until surgE) and raichu, and usually jynx for the lovely kiss/psychic/icepunch, but from there on, its just a matter of beating surge.....which no matter how hard i try, i cant do...its usually surges raichu that beats me too...its like he always takes it......BLAH!

come on.....someone has to know.........its driving me crazy!

Try using Pokemon with Special ATK like...

Confusion
Hypnosis
Burn
Freeze
Poison

Grass types are not hurt a lot by Electric Attacks or Surf....

argh, I've already tried all those things......

unless someone who's actually done it can tell me, I give up!

Its not as fun playing against the game as it is to play against a friend. I am working on my line-up.

Hypno
Muk
Blastoise
Dragonite
Haunter
Ninetales

Good? Bad?

surf raichu is annoying to ground types... but what about:

quagsire? quagsire would virtually ignore pooka.

the BLATANTLY obvious answer is:
ANY grass pokemon (except jumpluff)

grass types are strong against water AND electric.

stadium 2 rentals SUCK! they have totally terrible movestes. it's really tough to sweep every gym with just one rental team. in fact, i never beat lance until i started training.

if you have stadium 2, do yourself a favor, buy yourself a used crystal cart and a transfer pack and train your own pokemon.

umbreon with leftovers
bite (or faint for doubleteamers)
return (or toxic)
double team
rest (or even moonlight)

can single handily sweep MOST stadium 2 teams. even without rest AND swapped in, my moonlight umbreon swept red's raikou/entei/snorlax team by itself with 100% hit points despite being parylized.

if you're only playing to win with rentals, i think you can select entirely new teams for every gym after lance. you can build a speacialty team for every gym after that.

if you train, it's funner to try and build one team that can take every other team.

S2 is great for johto practice and learning, but S1 has MUCH better rentals. you'd have to unlearn ALOT of your johto rules to play kanto though.

eg.
swift ALWAYS hits
quake can be evaded with dig
waking up wastes a turn
there's no recoil after a ko

and so on.

it was precisely because of crappy S2 rental movestes that i turned to training.

for just over $20, you could be training your own teams for S2. for another $20 you could train AND trade with yourself for pokemon evolution.

a crystal and a yellow cart would give you most of the things you would need or want.

training in S2 is waaaay better than GB training for many reasons.

you can't get a quaking gligar or baton passing farfetch'd in ANY gameboy cart, but you can win them in stadium 2. ;)

zyrentarok,

pokemon stadium doesnt have any of those pokemon...

but thank you for the clearly obvious fact that grass pokemon are resistant to electricity.

oh... i had my stadiums mixed up. i was thinking S2 because he said surge. i know that there's no surge in round one, so i thought round two. most of the battles that i've done in S1 tower were round 1.

i need to finish round 2 of stadium 1 to win a surf pikachu of my own.

in stadium 1, psychics kick the most butt. alakazam is one of the best round 1 rentals. i don't know about round 2 rental movesets though as i've only played R2 with trained pokemon i think.

even though it's redundant, a team with alakazam and exeggutor woould do well in most gyms as there really isn't anything that are a threat to psychics except bugs and most bugs are poison which is weak to psychic anyways.

a strong normal rental that knows quake like tauros (as a rental?) or snorlax wouldn't hurt.

just try out different pokemon. with rentals, team changes are a cinch and the S1 rentals have useable movesets unlike S2.
