So I am sure now everyone either has or could end up drafting AVR packs. Explain what your strategy would be in how you would draft this set (first pick worthy cards, colors to aim for, etc.)

Pretty sure I broke the format.

just draft butcher ghoul, bloodflow connosseur, and driver of the deads.

That alone is enough to win against aggro and bomb matchups for the most part but combining it with blood artist or anything else that cares about creatures dying give you a stuipid engine. I even stomped mono-red humans which is a super degenerate deck as well in the format.

If you draft blue make sure to pick up a nephalia smuggler... unlimited blink. Works great with Mist Raven. :P Be careful of red, as drafting it looks much better than it often is. Also, on a side note, I love the format. :)

Ugh, faced 2 of those durdle guys yesterday. Smuggler with raven, untap soulbind guy, and white tapper dude. 1 draw and 1 stupid long game where I had 1 card left in library before I could alpha strike kill the guy. So dumb...

As for drafting, green howlgeist type cards are surprisingly good, so is champion of lambholt.

I did get a smuggler in my draft yesterday, but I did not get a raven. I went 3-0 in my draft pod with green/blue soulbond howlgeist with uvenwald Tracker and champion of lambholt

I did find my draft pod to be interesting since I could have gone green/white since I hate drafted 3 Seraph of dawn, 3 righteous bow, and a herald of war. I also opened Gisela, and instantly took her from others

i didnt take any rares the first pack i figured i should go with my deck idea first so i went with my first card trememdous flame (the 5 burn with miracle) and just kept taking red. after that i got all my cards and stole all the rares. still didnt do to well but i got 6 rares and a foil archwing dragon xD

Well sometimes taking a uncommon/common as your first pick does have an advantage. I know some of these rares/mythics I would be passing if I get horrible ones. Any of the rare lands (except cavern of souls) I would instantly pass. Descent into madness I don't admire enough to really take it. If it would wheel, then I might take it for the lols if there isn't anything else worth picking

i make most my money in drafts picking all the rares and good uncommons waiting a week then trading them again when their value is high but this time i wanted to trry xD

rare drafting is helpful.....if you get the ones that are worth anything

the problem with that in a draft is that huntmaster you want flipping over and over again....immerwolf just ruins the idea for that

it tells you how bad i do at drafts xD generally at my locals it comes down to the guy who pulls all the good cards or the guy who only runs 1 color but we never win anything at our drafts anyway xD

I find that limited decks in AVR have a tendency to lean towards the combinations of G/B, U/W, and R or R/X.

That said, as much as I like Blue, I tend to try and go for the Green or Green/Black here. Abundant Growth is ridiculously good and kill spells are dwindling so your opponents have difficulty taking out fatties. Bombs tend to be much more difficult to come across in anything not Green. My last draft, I snatched up a Champion of Lambholt, a couple of the enchantment for one Black that gives equipped creature +2/+1 and possibly Intimidate, a couple of the (1)G Wolf that cannot be blocked by creatures with power less than its power, and a ton of pump and utility creatures. I went undefeated.

In a sealed, I ended up going G/R with a spash of W (in the form of two Plains, a Borderland Ranger, and two Abundant Growth) for the White uncommon Miracle and Gisela. The details are a bit hazy, but it also allowed me to take first.

I learned well that the best colors to draft are in an order like this

best to worst
green
white
blue
red
black

These can change later on if things develop differently in my drafting area

I recently did a draft where I was R/B and went 2-0-1 (drew with a friend) with basically a bunch of removal spells, and hasty swingers. I would usually aim for something better from a different color pool then that, but with the other 3 being heavily drafted, it can make the other 2 up for grabs

I recently drafted UBW, as I took two Tower Geists, a Deadeye Navigator, Driver of the Dead, and Archangel's Light, looking towards the long game. Picked up three Deathwind's, and pretty much bounced through my deck a few times before finally I would have game in the form of fliers.
It felt very, very powerful to me.
