can you put one of your creatures in the graveyard at anytime you want to?

for exaple some artifact creature say "this creature comes into play with 2 +1/+1 counters on it. when its put into a graveyard, you may put its +1/+1 counters on target artifact creature." so can i graveyard it anytime and put the counter elsewhere or does someone have to kill it?

the card that synergys with those arcbounds are arcbound ravager
this lets you sacrifice an artifact and put a +1/+1 counter on it. also meaning you can trow your counters around alot.

also you can use a card called lifeline maybe 2 words if you try to search for it.this is an artifact for (5) i think that at the end of each players turn that players puts (all creatures or maybe just 1) from his graveyard into play as long as he or she controls a creature. so as long as a creature of yours is in play you get anything you sacrifice back into play.

too bad this is not contineuos because the lifelines ability only triggers once at the end of a turn.
