zombies are an archtype that has been round for a while now and was top tier in 2010 if im correct and dominated most ycs's in its time but the question i want to know is can they still keep up with the meta.

some of the cards that were played in that deck are still good but other cards are faster than them thats why the deck partially died off also the fact that Mezuki got put to one and buriel from a different dimension went to one so that you couldnt abuse Mezuki anymore. Mezuki is still a really good card but it is not about Mezuki it's about the deck Mezuki goes in, zombies on there own are not powerful enough in this current format because its to slow and there are too many decks that are faster than it in my opinion, people started to play zombie plants a couple of months ago and that is because the plant engine speeds up the deck and you can pretty much splash the plant engine into any deck and zombies became playable again. also the synchro potential in that deck is huge, because it plays lots of tuners and lots of floaters that plus off going to the graveyard so thats where zombies have a bit of an edge. also when xyz's came out and they got that ruling where if a monster is detached they got there efect off so when that got ruled alot of people thought lets play zombies because zombies would work well with that go into an xyz and detach a Goblin Zombie a tengu a Mezuki and have a 2500 utopia with the set up in the graveyard but shortly after that ruling it got a re-ruling where they dont got there effect so then zombies stopped getting played because they not strong enough without the xyz's. i think zombies are a deck you could play at locals or at a regionals but not at a major event such as a ycs, so thats my opinion on zombies i want people to have there say on zombies because it would be nice to have a view from someone who plays zombies at the minute to discuss cards that would help this deck get better and more upto the meta.

The meta right now is too messy [i.e. ANY of your plays can be way too easily stopped because of the x3 Effect Veiler, x2 Fiendish Chain, x3 Maxx C, Solemn Warnings floating around and so on] so the deck is really tough to play seeing as it requires set up.

Zombies aren't bad, they're actually quite amazing. It's just that the current meta is too much for them to handle, for example, with only a lone Mezuki, it's tough to deal with a first turn hand loop, or Hornets destroying all your cards and swinging for a lot before you're properly set up, and etc.

However, these decks shouldn't even be around, but thats just how the game goes. Unless the top tiers are hit, anything other than Wind-Ups and Inzektors will have a tough time competing unless they have some sort of complete shutdown mechanic [ex. Archlord Krystia]

yh i agree with you on all of that what you just said its not thats zombies are bad its just that so much stuff is either faster or much more powerful than them. :)

I'm pretty dedicated to Zombies, and I will tell you this: Zombies are good, but they DEFINATELY take skill, good understanding of the deck, and a little luck. Since our engine of choice, the Plant engine, got ***** in the ass, I've been trying to promote PSI Zombies, especially since E-Tele is back to 2.

You can talk about skill all you want, but if you get your hand looped first turn theres nothing "skillful" you can do about it.

Zombies are one of the hardest decks to play, but they also require set up, which obviously isn't too possible for us currently.

You make it sound like I said the Wind-Up was avoidable...
