Noobie Games

Miami Beach, FL 33140

if anyone is interested and lives around here

also i wanted to ask for some advice, as many of you may know this saturday is the sneak peak of Order of Chaos. usually there are around 50 ppl at my locals for sneaks, so i was wondering if you guys think it would be a good idea to demo at a time like this ? or is everyone going to be to focused on ygo

Amuki

Its still a good time in my opinion. You could even use your vvanguard as trade bait if you hook people XD
But yes some people are really fixated on their ygos but the more casual people will probably show interest so don't worry especially with that big a turnout imo

searchingduelist
01-12-2012, 02:06 PM
ahh that could be a good idea (the trade) didnt think of that
im going to do it regardless i just dont want it to be like i go there and no one cares you know? Im also going for the sneak to see if i get anything that i can sell off or just trade away cards in general but my main goal is to get ppl interested and the store to think of becoming a distributor

Amuki
01-12-2012, 02:21 PM
If you can manage to convince people than it just makes it easier to get the store to stock it. If enough of you bother the owner and she that there is value in the store getting the game then you are pretty set =)

Look at the big picture! ToyWiz is the start of sales in thriving chain stores that reach out and could ensnare a much broader audience.

ToyWiz is just the first, Hopefully Symths could pick it up here in Ireland though I would be unsure with the whole getting rid of YGO.

I have a question for demos.

We ourselves in charge of the demo need to have the cards? Or does the store contact the distributor and the distributor will send demo kits?

Amuki
01-12-2012, 09:26 PM
The store finds a distributor and contacts them, then they end the store the cards, usually the store has to pay though =\

Though I know it wasn't the best result, congradulations on what success you did get. It seems like a good start, especially if people looked into it and liked what they saw. Definitely better then no one showing interest.

Its not hard to demo if you make them approach you.

Setting Up
First, hopefully, you are friends, or friendly with the store owner. You don't want to try and demo at a store where you don't know everyone. That being said, if your great with people, and charismatic, then branching out to new stores might not be an issue, once you got your gimmick down.

Ask the shop owner for a booth/table, and tell him what you plan on doing. If you make a sign with cardboard and posterboard, like 3 dollars, and just paste some print outs on it, and some catchy phrases, you'll grab attention. Sitting alone at a table with a few cards, and no one walks up. Be nice and greet people as they walk by. The last thing people wanna see at a demo, is some kid on his cell looking moppy. To throw a demo, you need a certain personality, we are all capable of it, but you need to keep a smile on that face.

Also, see if the store doesn't mind you isolating a table. I know my store, and others have the game area with lots of connected tables. See if you can set one out in the open somewhere, where you WILL grab attention. Think what you see at tournies, such as regionals or city champs. Organizers always have their little island away from everyone, but easy to see and reach.

Try to do a time slot plenty of people will be there. Don't get something that is having a big event, like regionals, but hit up the locals time slot, so people see you, so you actually get clientele.

What You Need
Materials -Make signs, print off official vanguard stuff. Have signs and nice mats. Hell, you can even make flyers. Most Shops have flyers for events. Ask the owner and see if he doesn't mind. Pass them out, and leave some at the register. Tape one on the wall.

Time- You want to make sure you have plenty of time. You don't want mom coming and saying its time to go in the middle of a demo. Expect overage, and getting their early.

Knowledge -Make sure you know the game inside and out. Have rules on hands.

Product- Bring a box with product, like a booster box, and two of the trial decks, SEALED. Have your own trial decks, for play, testing, and demoing, and some singles presented nicely in a binder to show people. You want to have unopened product to showcase, and this will cost extra, but its worth it. You also what to have your product, so people can see the cards and clans and stuff, and ask questions. Also stuff so people can play and test. Multiple trial decks is a good idea too, so multiple demo games can happen, try to limit it to you and another game though, so you can fully handle the situation and pace of both games.

Does this Work?
You bet it does.
Not only will people be interested when you hold yourself professionally, but the store will really love your initiative. The signature sheet will give them initiative to stock product and throw tournies, which in turn makes them money, and helps us as a community grow. This also allows you to demo this to your STORE. It lets your store know what the product is like, and is great for a resume to said store, if your interested. You can bet everyone who works at a hobby shops, plays at the hobby shop. If your someone who frequents it, you remember people who were players, that now work there. Its how you get your foot in the door.

searchingduelist
01-15-2012, 07:54 AM
Okay thanks I'll do that next time I go, just without the sealed products since I'm short on money ATM but I can do trial decks and the rest of the stuff. I've been going to that locals for 2 years so I do know most of the ppl

Geo Stephens
01-15-2012, 02:07 PM
Yeah, like people said, you can get your store to get a demo kit, but it takes them to contact them, and you to wait, plus the store might control the demo, and not care about it as much as you. Plus most stores are not down for paying for all that product to demo. If they were, you wouldn't have to ask, as they would be already interested and demoing it. They know how to run a business.

We'll if its your first, thats ok lol.

My first time, junior year, ACT.
I was drunk(off two smirnoffs, which isn't much but I was a noob drinker)
Stayed a friends house cuz we went together, got like 3 hours of sleep
Forgot my graphing calculator at home

Got a 32.
Lowest score was 27 on science cuz I'm really bad at science but got a 35 on math, cuz I'm baller.

Didn't have to take it again, since 32 is amazing, and gets me into whatever college I want.

Sadly, I went to a bad school, nearby, and joined a frat, and wasted my life in 3 short semesters. Bad decisions ftw.

I'm gonna try a quasi-demo today somewhere in Cincinnati. Spent last night and this morning downloading, and cutting out the Cardsleeve Inserts from Heart of the Cards, then filling in all the info not on the inserts (Power/Shield/Grade ability). Now I'm putting them in sleeves with MTG/YGO cards to proxy all 4 trial decks....Wont have the artwork or anything, but will still give people a jist of how the game is played.

Edit: Finished everything but Grapplers. I think 3 decks should be enough for a casual meet up though. TO ROCKIN ROOSTER/ILLUMINAUDI!

Its not hard to demo if you make them approach you.

They can contact bushiroad and ask for a demo kit, and it will have to be paid for, if they store is a good store, they alreayd now about new releases and up and coming games. More then likely if they are already not demoing it, they won't pay for it, thats where you come in and demo yourself.

Info on contacting is seen here.

Thank you.

There is an official English release that is supporting card shops. If you contact them directly then they will help send your store product and such. There is an official English site at http://cf-vanguard.com/en/. Lastly, for CFV to reach the level of other TCGs depends on the support of us.

There was a post eien made about it on here, but it must of got lost or deleted in the transition and merge, or in another topic.

TO ROCKIN ROOSTER/ILLUMINAUDI!

well now how's someone gonna pick up the nova grappler deck and win every match making them look like the best clan? XD

anyways good luck!

Had a demo today only two people were interested and one of them just wanted cards to use as yugioh tokens bit the other one said he was going to try and find a deck to use so a slow start but its still a start

I should mention that HobbyTown USA in Lincoln, NE already has an audience for this game. Several of the Yu-Gi-Oh! players also play Cardfight!! Vanguard already, which is why they weren't interested in the demo, if that's where you held it. I personally spoke to the staff there, letting them know that I can run a demo later, especially if they can get Bushiroad to certify them.

Frank and Sons has quite a bit of people buying boxes and trial decks. Trail decks are 16 and booster box is 70. It seems like quite a few people are interested here. They also have vendors selling singles.

That's good news.

I plan on getting a pair of Flash Fight sets. It should be easier than full Trial Decks for people to learn with, and they make for shorter games, which in turn means more people get to play.

I have 2 questions:
1-for your recommondations on demo-ing, why does it have to be SEALED product? Seems overly expensive to have a sealed box, some sealed decks, and a few trials to play.
2- Are there English Flash Fights right now? I thought the only product we have right now was BT 1 and the first 2 trial decks...

Yes the flash decks are available in english, but not everyone stocks them. As for holding a demo the product you need will depend on how professional you want it. You can just bring the trial decks to teach a couple people to play, or you could bring a full product line to demonstrate the product.

Thats about what I was thinking. There are a few stores locally that get pretty big turnouts for MTG/YGO, but I dont know how many I can convert, so I dont know how professional to get. Not to mention I'm the poors right now, so I have to budget myself when I can...

Flash Fight decks were only used during events in Singapore.

Apparently they did a demo at Ohayocon this weekend Saturday at 11 (so most people were still sleeping or in line for badges). I forgot to ask my friend how many people showed up, but he said they did a demo and then gave out some Commons and Rares from Booster 5 I believe. I went in the card room a few times and saw a couple guys playing with some Japanese decks but it was mainly dominated by YGO and MTG, as expected.

I taught people how to play for the first time last Saturday (first time getting to play against someone irl as well). A lot of people were interested, and since then I've ordered 11 starter decks at people's requests. I didn't even get time to teach everyone who was interested! Next weekend should be even better.

Demo at Pro Star Gaming in San Jose, CA. When the store gets product they always sell out before the weekend. We have about a 13 count in our player base and growing. There's about an average of 8 Vanguard Fighters there each Sunday (our main meet up day). Starting sometime in March we'll be having official tournaments with Promo support, I'll be the one hosting it. All English product, by the way.

We haven't so much been demoing as we have just been playing random games around here. Interest is growing steadily, so we're trying to get someplace to stock product.

I am going to try to get a demo going at:
Dice Age Games
Vancouver, WA.
Basically before I even order product in, the owner wants to see how many people are interested before he would go ahead and order and get stock, so that's what this week is so far. =<

I demo the game at Hammer Hall in Jacksonville whenever im there (usually Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons). in terms of getting people interested, its much harder for people who are into Magic, probably because it is so much different and CFV is more anime oriented whereas Magic is more like D&D. people that play Yugioh though seem much more interested though.

so far i have like 2 or three that might get into it more. but if anyone in Jacksonville Florida that plays it or is interested in CFV ill totally be there.

I demo at Games Galore in Reno, NV. I'm usually there for the weekly yugioh tournament at 3pm on Saturdays. I should be there at least an hour before and a little bit after. (Not too long because I have to be at work at 6 AM the next morning.)

I have also talked the shop owner about getting product in and he says it should be here in week or two.
